CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC) has been implementing the Main Street Program in downtown Clearfield and working to enhance the community’s value and events.
In doing so the past three years, the CRC organized the Fall Festival and 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk, which will be held again Oct. 12. This year the CRC will host new events with Beautification Day on May 18 and the Bloom and Berry Bash, a summer festival, on June 22.
While the Main Street Program is in year four of a five-year program, the CRC plans to shift its focus toward sustainability, which will be critical to its survival. As a result, the CRC has organized the first-ever “Vera Bradley and What He Wants Badly” fundraiser in which purses and accessories will be raffled. “Man” items from local businesses will be raffled as well.
Some of the “man” items include, but are not limited to, two, different gun packages from Grice Gun Shop and Bob’s Army & Navy, a crossbow package plus range time from Jim’s Sports Center, a Precisionist Watch from Zalno Jewelers and a men’s “Date Night At Home” package, including an easy to make appetizer, dinner and dessert from Sweet Art Bakery.
Vera Bradley packages include, but are not limited to, purse and wallet packages, baby and duffle bags and a grand travel package consisting of a suitcase, weekender bag, purse and wallet.
Participants do not need to be present to win. Tickets are on sale at the CRC office for $10 each. Tickets are drawn at random and only 1,000 will be sold. All proceeds benefit the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.
The CRC’s raffle event will be from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. May 5 at the St. Charles Café. Only 300 people can attend the event, and those planning to attend must RSVP to the CRC.
Raffle attendees will be able to sample Bee Kind Winery, hors d’oeuvres and additional raffles and games. These raffles include but are not limited to a diamond necklace from Zalno Jewelers, a Grice Gun Shop $300 gift card, a Limited Fly Rod Package from Jim’s Sports Center and more Vera Bradley purses, book-bag and large duffle bag in brand new summer prints.
Main Street Manager Kellie Swales said, “We wanted to come up with something catchy, unique and to include downtown businesses.”
She said by raffling items for both men and women they’re hoping to appeal to a greater audience and to raise more money for the CRC. She said at this time next year, they will need to be completely sustained by local contributions and fundraisers in order to keep Clearfield as a designated Main Street community.
“Right now, we have way too many volunteers and stakeholders invested in our projects and believing in our community to lose our Main Street designation and program,” said Swales. “We are dedicated to sustaining the CRC’s events and projects for the future, and together as a community, we can make that happen. Each ticket sold is one step closer to sustainability of the CRC and its Main Street Program. “
Swales thanked local businesses and volunteers who contributed to the fundraiser event.
The CRC will also be hosting its first-ever summer festival, the Bloom and Berry Bash, on June 22 in downtown Clearfield. This event will take place in the streets of the downtown and be similar to the fall festival. The CRC is currently accepting vendor applications for crafts, farm markets and kid activities.
