Frank J. Cambria, 92, of Greensboro, NC and formerly of Clearfield, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Spring Arbor of Greensboro.
He was born Oct. 28, 1920 in Clearfield, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Unch) Cambria.
Mr. Cambria was formerly an associate of Soult Wholesale Lumber Co., Clearfield, retiring in 1989 after 45 years of service. A veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious service while serving with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Knights of Columbus Clearfield Council #409, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge #189. He was former member of the Clearfield Kiwanis Club and the Clearfield Curwensville Country Club.
He was loved for his positive outlook on life and his wonderful humor. He lived a happy, full life including travels with his wife to many different countries and vacations with the family. He was a beloved husband and caring father whose passion in life was his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed golfing and playing guitar and piano.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce H. (Heyworth) Cambria, whom he wed Aug. 27, 1955 in Clearfield, and five children, Anthony Sembiante and his wife, Kathy of Pittsburgh, F. Joseph Cambria of North Carolina; Linda O’Day and her husband, John of Burlington, NC, Anita Billotte and her husband, Ron of Whitsett, NC and Karen Pizzella and her husband, Matt of Summerfield, NC.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brian O’Day, Heather O’Day, Kristin O’Day Cleveland and Elyse Pizzella, all of North Carolina, Tom DeMurry and Bobbie DeMurry and Adam Billotte, all of Pennsylvania and Aaron Billotte of Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Jensen and Devin Billotte, Clara Rose Cleveland and Sean O’Day; a sister, Angeline Cambria of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a first wife, Betty Sigety; three sisters and two brothers, Frances Timko, Rose Hatley, Anna, Joseph and and Jack G. Cambria.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts honor guards.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield and again from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday. A Christian Vigil service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield.
