Obituary Notice: Albert Conklin

Albert Conklin, 83, of Hawk Run died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Herman Conklin and Susan (Mihalo) Conklin Gavlock, born Feb. 01, 1930. He married the former Margarette Brown on May 20, 1950 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Morrisdale.  She survives him at home.

Mr. Conklin was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Morrisdale. 

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holly Family Council #8701 in Morrisdale; a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose; the Osceola Mills VFW Gold Stripe Club; and a member of the Slovak Club, all of Osceola Mills. 

In addition, he was a life member of the Chester Hill Fire Company; a member of the Carpathian Club in Hawk Run; a member of the Clarence Democratic Club; and a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union, Branch 149K, Grassflat.

He was a heavy equipment operator for various mining companies, retiring from Thompson Coal Company.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Conklin was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ann Rogers and a brother, George Conklin.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Barbara Jean Davenport and her husband, Scott of Williamsport, Darlene Staszak and her husband, Roy of Morrisdale and Sharon Stoltz and her husband, Mark of Treasure Lake in DuBois and three brothers, Harry Conklin of Osceola Mills, John Conklin and his wife, Myrna of Morrisdale and Paul Gavlock and his wife, Susan of Montoursville. 

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Conklin of Hawk Run; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Morrisdale, with the Rev. Robert J. Horgas, as celebrant.  Burial will be at the St. Agnes Cemetery in Morrisdale.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg.

The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
