Obituary Notice: Nellie W. Turner

Nellie W. Turner, 100, of Morrisdale died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. Born Feb. 24, 1913 in Wallaceton, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Etta Quick McTavish.

Mrs. Turner was a homemaker.

She was baptized at the Church of Christ, Philipsburg, in 1923.  

She was married to Leo Turner on Oct. 10, 1929 at the Woodland Methodist Church. He preceded her in death July 31, 1978.

Mrs. Turner is survived by two daughters, Charlotte McBride and her husband, Charles of Clearfield and Eileen Robenolt and her husband, Ardell of Youngstown, OH and two sons, Leo Turner and his wife, Betty of West Decatur and Gordon D. Turner and his wife, Sylvia of Clearfield.

She’s also survived by 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 40 great great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Catherine Clark and Lavone Britton, four grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters. She was the last of her generation.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel of the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating. Burial will be in the Allport Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Monday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 220 Merrill St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
