Funeral Services Announced for Marine Joshua Michael Martino

DUBOIS – A funeral service has been announced for Lance Cpl. Joshua Michael Martino, 19, of DuBois, who died Monday in Hawthorne, NV as a result of injuries sustained in a military training mission.

Born May 28, 1993, he was the son of Karen (Murdock) Perry of DuBois and Vincent Martino of Brockway.  They both survive.

He was a 2012 graduate of the DuBois Area High School, where he was a member of the track, football and rifle teams.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.  He loved to travel and had recently participated in the People to People Program as a student ambassador traveling to Europe.

Mr. Martino was engaged to be married to Annastasia Srock in October of this year.  She survives.

He was a Lance Cpl. in the U.S. Marine Corp. as a mortarman.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-father, John A. Perry of DuBois; three brothers, Anthony J. Perry and his wife, Jennifer of Moshannon, John V. Perry and his wife, Jodie of Beaver and James M. Perry and his wife, Angela of Dallastown; four nieces, Madison, Gabrielle, Mia and Isla Perry; and one nephew, Caleb Bell.

Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Murdock of DuBois; two aunts, Pamela Murdock and Connie Mowrey, both of DuBois; two uncles, Dominic Martino of Naples, FL and Leonard Martino of Brockway.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Murdock and his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Mercedes Martino.

Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski and Fr. David Foradori officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at the Morningside Cemetery.

A funeral procession will begin after the funeral services at approximately 10:45 a.m. – 11 a.m. To pay final respects along the funeral route to the cemetery, the procession will follow Robinson Street to West Long Avenue through downtown DuBois to Brady Street. From there, turn left onto Brady Street and proceed straight to Liberty Boulevard.  At the end of Liberty Boulevard, turn right onto DuBois Avenue and follow until arrival at Morningside Cemetery.
