According to Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott, both the Dimeling and PGP want to lower their assessed values. She said that the Dimeling is assessed at $635,800 and wants to lower that to $0. She said PGP was assessed at $25 million and wants to lower that to $4 million.
Council member Tim Winters said the borough will be sharing the costs with the county and the school district.
In addition, Council member Richard Stewart Jr. mentioned that the Ritz Theater will require a $100,000 upgrade to continue operating after the movie industry switches to a digital format in 2014 that is incompatible with its current projectors.
“The Ritz Theater has been a valuable part of the downtown since forever,” said Winters. He said this will affect all theaters, including the Rowland Theater and the Super 322 Drive-In.
“I don’t know if we right here, as the borough, can entertain any action, but we can steer,” said Council member James Kling.
