Penn State Launches Web site on Search for New President

UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State launched a Presidential Search website today, emphasizing transparency and the University community’s inclusion in the search and selection process.

Updates on the search for Penn State’s 18th president will be posted at here, where the public can offer input, learn about those tasked with finding the University’s next leader and view the history of the Penn State presidency.

Current President Rodney Erickson has announced that he will retire no later than June 30, 2014. The University has established a Trustee Presidential Selection Council, and a University Presidential Search and Screen Committee that will both be assisted by executive search firm Isaacson, Miller.

Faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to share their insight and make confidential nominations by emailing PSUnominations@imsearch.com. Other comments on the process, can be emailed to PSUcomments@imsearch.com. Links to both of these addresses can be found on the new site. The Presidential Search site will continue to change as the process moves forward and more information will be added in the coming weeks to provide University community members with a more informed view of the timeline for finding a president; the overall process being used for the search; the qualities and skills the University is looking for in its next president; and a host of other vital links.

In addition, a news feed on the site will keep readers up-to-date on the most current issues related to the search. In fact, listed on the site is a series of three forums focused on gathering feedback from faculty, staff and students regarding the search. These forums, being held specifically for employees and students, are scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. March 21 in Room 117 of the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus; 6 to 7 p.m. March 21 in Room 105 of the Forum Building on the University Park campus; and 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. March 22 in Room 102 of the Paterno Library on the University Park campus. The March 22 forum will be streamed online to Commonwealth Campuses, so that faculty, staff and students at those locations can participate.
