Anonymous Tip Leads to Fugitive’s Capture

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced the capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the fugitive as Michael Roush, 49, of Westville Road, Brockway.

Roush was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on March 11. On Aug. 8, 2012, Officer Matthew Robertson of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Roush with theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Robertson states that on July 19, 2012, the DuBois City Police Department received a report about a theft of various pieces of metal from a residence located on West Long Avenue in DuBois City. Upon investigation it was found that Roush had unlawfully removed approximately $250 worth of metal from the victim’s property.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 28, 2012, at which time all charges were held for court.

In a separate case, Trooper Carol Ponce of the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois barracks, filed a criminal complaint on Aug. 7, 2012, charging Roush with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Ponce states that on July 19, 2012, the Pennsylvania State Police received a report about a theft of various pieces of metal from a residence located in Falls Creek Borough. Upon investigation it was found that Roush had unlawfully removed scrap metal from the victim’s property.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 28, 2012, at which time all charges were held for Court. On Feb. 28, Roush failed to appear for both cases for criminal call, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous tip provided the location of Roush. On March 13, troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois barracks apprehended Roush at a residence in Brockway. State police transferred custody of Roush to deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Department who transported Roush to the Clearfield County Jail.

Shaw thanked the Pennsylvania State Police and the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
