Minnie Jane Salada, known by family and friends as Jane, 90, of DuBois died unexpectedly Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Anoka Rehabilitation and Living Center in Anoka, MN.
Born Nov. 24, 1922, in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Iva V. Platt. She was married to Isaac Jason Salada, who preceded her in death in 2005. She worked at the B.F. Goodrich plant in DuBois during and after World War II.
She, with her immediate family, moved to Middletown, NY in 1951 and returned to Dubois, in 1984. She was a housewife. While in New York, she was a member of St. Paul United Methodist church and was actively involved in the Evelyn Corn Circle, chairing dinners and wedding receptions. She was a 4-H leader for many years.
In DuBois she was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Ruby Imes Circle, Memory Circle and Young At Heart. She was a strong supporter of the yearly Salada Reunion.
Throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved hosting family gatherings. She loved seeing and hearing about the activities of her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. (John) Buysman of Minneapolis, MN and Deborah L. (John) Barcellona of Huntington Beach, CA; one son, Isaac J. (Patricia) Salada Jr. of Lebanon, OH; two brothers, Richard W. Platt (Patricia) of DuBois and John C. Platt (Patricia) of Palmyra, VA; one brother-in-law, William Thomas Salada of DuBois; one sister-in-law, Florence Platt of East Earl; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, George Platt, two sisters, Betty (Robert) Dunlap and Helen (David) La Benne and a granddaughter, Kari Ann Salada.
Family and friends can share memories from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the funeral on Saturday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in Dubois. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial immediately following at Salem Cemetery.
