Woman Sustains Major Injuries in Ferguson Twp. Accident

FERGUSON TOWNSHIP – A 58-year-old La Jose woman, Ruth A. Sheeder, sustained major injuries after a single-vehicle accident that occurred just before 3 p.m. Saturday on Cherry Corner Road in Ferguson Township.

Sheeder was transported to the Altoona Hospital for medical treatment. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, reported the Clearfield-based state police.

Sheeder was traveling northbound on Cherry Corner Road and caused her vehicle to travel off the right berm of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, her vehicle struck a utility pole, causing it to break into two pieces. The Sheeder vehicle then traveled about 50 feet and struck a tree.

After the accident, Sheeder told state police that a blue-colored, four-door car had been traveling southbound in the northbound lane. She told state police that caused her to exit the roadway.
