State Police: No Suspicious Circumstances Surround Rapid Ways Fire

CLEARFIELD – The investigation is continuing into a fire that damaged Rapid Ways Truck Leasing on 49 George St. on Sunday night in Lawrence Township. However, there aren’t any suspicious circumstances, reported the Ridgway-based state police.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Hyde Volunteer Fire Company investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire damaged an 80-foot by 160-foot, steel-framed structure that’s used to repair commercial vehicles.

The fire originated in the parts room at approximately 8 p.m. and smoldered for more than three-and-a-half hours before being noticed. Damage is estimated at $600,000. No injuries were reported, state police said.

The Hyde Volunteer Fire Company was assisted by the Lawrence Township, Glen Richey, Clearfield Borough, Curwensville, Bigler-Jackson-Woodland, Houtzdale and Grampian fire departments.
