Bernice Carolyn Morgan Eshelman, 90, of Curwensville, died Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital. She had previously been a resident of Ridgeview Elder Care Center in Curwensville.
Born Dec. 17, 1922 in Graham Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of Mabel (Turner) Morgan Bock and George E. Morgan.
She was a 1942 graduate of Philipsburg High School. She retired from the Clearfield County Prothonotary Office after previously working for Marshall University in Huntingdon, WV and the former Brody’s in Clearfield.
She was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church, where she was a past Deacon and a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Curwensville Community Choir and a past member of the Clearfield Hobby Garden Club.
On Oct. 10, 1942, she wed Robert C. Eshelman, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Catherine Leigh Williams and brothers, John P. and Richard P. Morgan and a sister, Elizabeth Jane Linberg.
Surviving are three children, Carolyn J. Irwin and Robert C. Eshelman II and his wife, Paula, both of Curwensville and Mary Elizabeth Langford and her husband, L.J. of Clinton, MO; five grandchildren, Lance Langford and his wife, Christine of Springfield, MO, Jeff Langford and his wife, Sara of Liberty, MO, John T. Irwin and his wife, Sharon of Curwensville, Christopher J. Irwin and his wife, Allison of Maricopa, AZ, and Carolyn E. Wooden and her husband, Paul of Sarasota, FL.
In addition, there are eight great-grandchildren two brothers and a sister, James E. Morgan and his wife, Lorraine of Sun City, FL, Ruth Barfield of Pottstown and David K. Bock and his wife, Linda of Williamsport.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eshelman will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Charles R. Taber officiating. Burial will be in the Bigler Cemetery, Bigler.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
