Woman Killed in SR 153 Accident

HORTON TOWNSHIP – A 26-year-old Falls Creek woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 10:47 a.m. Thursday on state Route 153 in Horton Township, reported the Ridgway-based state police.

The woman was not identified by state police. She was the passenger of a vehicle operated by a 25-year-old Brockway woman who sustained major injuries in the accident. The operator also was not identified by state police.

According to the accident report, the Brockway woman was traveling northbound on SR 153. A vehicle operated by an unidentified, 61-year-old Warren woman was traveling southbound. The Brockway woman crossed into the southbound lane of SR 153.

At that point, the Brockway woman’s vehicle struck the guiderail on the west berm and then entered the path of the Warren woman’s vehicle.  The Warren woman’s vehicle struck the rear end area of the Brockway woman’s vehicle.

The Brockway woman was ejected from her vehicle. Her passenger, the Falls Creek woman, was partially ejected. The Brockway woman was not wearing her seatbelt, while the Falls Creek and Warren women were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, state police said.

Both the Brockway and Warren women were transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center. From there the Brockway woman was transported to the Altoona Hospital. The Falls Creek woman died as a result of her injuries, state police said.
