Route 26 and I-80 Ramp Closed near Bellefonte

CLEARFIELD – PennDOT has advised drivers that Route 26 and the Interstate 80 westbound exit ramp are closed at the 161/Bellefonte interchange in Centre County. Route 26 is closed northbound and southbound. The closure is due to a tractor trailer accident and downed utility lines.

The following, official detours are in place:

Traffic coming from I-99 northbound to I-80 westbound can exit I-99 at the 61/Port Matilda interchange and follow the orange detour.

I-99 traffic already east of Port Matilda and needing to access I-80 westbound will exit at the 81/Pleasant Gap interchange and follow Route 64 north to the 173/Lamar interchange for I-80 westbound.

I-80 westbound traffic wishing to access Route 26 will need to exit I-80 at the 158/Milesburg interchange, re-enter I-80 eastbound at the Milesburg interchange and exit at the 161/Bellefonte eastbound off-ramp.

Drivers can also access closure and detour information on PennDOT’s Highway Advisory Radio System at 1640 on the AM dial and on Dynamic Message Boards along I-99 and I-80.

PennDOT expects to re-open the exit ramp and Route 26 by 12 p.m. today.
