Barn Destroyed by Fire in Spring Creek Twp

SPRING CREEK TOWNSHIP – A barn fire is being investigated that occurred at 5:38 a.m. Tuesday at 28235 Lake City Rd., Spring Creek Township. The barn belonged to Gregory Burns of Heritage Farms, according to the Ridgway-based state police.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Ridgway Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire destroyed a 50-foot by 65-foot barn. More than 600 chickens and 26 pigs died as a result of the fire.

There weren’t any people injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at more than $100,000, state police said. The Brockway and Warsaw Township fire departments assisted the Ridgway Fire Department at the scene.
