CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield attorney with more than 30 years of professional experience and public service will kick off Lock Haven University’s Clearfield Campus 2013 speaker series on Feb. 27.

Kim Kesner, a sole practice attorney and Clearfield County solicitor, will speak on “Stepping Up to Public Service” at 6 p.m. in the Academic Building, Room A123, at the Clearfield campus. The event is free and open to the public.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Kesner on our campus to kick off the speaker series this year,” said Dr. William Curley, director of Lock Haven University’s Clearfield Campus. “His knowledge, skills and experience as a public leader are a real asset to our community – not just in Clearfield, but the entire region. We are looking forward to hosting this important event for our community.”

At a time when many local organizations are looking for ways to increase community involvement, Kesner will share how to “plant the seeds” to find and nurture young leaders. Kesner has served in a wide variety of public service roles, most recently as a member of the Board of Directors for the Clearfield County Economic Development Corp. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Clarion University Foundation and on the Counsel of Trustees for Clarion University and was a former delegate for the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA). He received a commendation from the PBA in 2000-01 for “outstanding contributions to pro bono services in Pennsylvania.”

“It’s an honor to be a featured speaker, and Lock Haven University’s Clearfield campus is the perfect place to talk about public service,” Kesner said. “The resources the campus provides are critical in helping us cultivate the next generation of leaders in our community. We all have to work together toward this common goal, which is so vital to the long-term success of our community.”

Lock Haven University’s Clearfield campus is a welcoming educational destination for students of all ages. The campus offers a variety of programs ranging from extended education courses up to and including a master’s degree. Opportunities include degrees in business, healthcare fields and criminal justice.

Upcoming open house dates are from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Feb. 23 and April 27.
