Gabler Labels Corbett Budget Proposal ‘A Good Start’

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) commented on the budget address made to the General Assembly by Gov. Tom Corbett Tuesday at the state Capitol:

“Times change in Harrisburg, but one thing remains the same – a governor’s budget address is merely a starting point in the process of negotiating a spending plan for the coming fiscal year.

“In speaking yesterday to members of both the House and Senate, as well as the people of Pennsylvania, Governor Corbett highlighted the great work done to eliminate a $4 billion budget deficit in his first two terms without raising taxes. I applaud the proposal to hold the line on taxes for a third consecutive year. We now have an opportunity to hold a conversation about our citizens’ priorities for their hard-earned dollars in 2013-14.

“The governor set out a framework for a set of priorities that will undoubtedly lead to a robust discussion in the coming months. I look forward to the opportunity to work on crafting a final budget that sets responsible priorities and furthers the interests of the citizens of Elk and Clearfield counties.”
