Theodore Calvin Reiter, 87, of Holidaysburg died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at the Altoona Regional Hospital. Born April 18, 1925 in Kartahus, he was the son of the late Claire E. and Virginia Lucas Reiter.
Mr. Reiter will be lovingly missed by his family. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He’d worked for the railroad for more than 40 years until his retirement. He resided in the Holidaysburg Veteran Home.
He married the late Lillian Teats Reiter on June 10, 1945 in Snow Shoe.
Mr. Reiter is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Nickol of Clearfield and Donna J. Hoover and her husband, Dennis of San Antonio, TX.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Stacey A. Nickol-Reiter of Bellefonte; Angel and Caitlin Hoover of San Antonio, TX and Bruce Hoover and his wife Elizabeth of Houston, TX; two great-granddaughters, Layla Scallen and Annabelle Hoover; and one sister, Isabella Lewis and her husband, Bill of New Cumberland.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Baby Reiter; a granddaughter, Danetta Reiter; a sister, June E. Teats; and a brother, the Rev. Edward N. Reiter.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale with the Rev. Dan Witherite officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Karthaus.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Thursday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Leigey-Renaud VFW Post #8386, Frenchville.
