Jessie L. Sloppy, 95, of Clearfield died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at Clearfield Colonial Courtyard.
She was born Oct. 6, 1917 in Columbia County, a daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Getty) Leiby.
Mrs. Sloppy was an elementary school teacher in Clearfield for 40 years.
She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
Mrs. Sloppy was an avid reader and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Fred E. Sloppy, whom she wed in 1937; a son,
Richard Sloppy and his wife, Sandra of New Millport; a daughter-in-law, Connie
Sloppy of Erie; four grandchildren, Daniel Sloppy and Lori Buzzard and her husband, Don, all of Erie, Brian Sloppy and Andrew Sloppy, both of New Millport; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack A. Sloppy and a brother, Ralph Leiby.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Penney Rahm officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the church.

Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield or to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 N. Second St., Clearfield.
