Wozniak Announces Hazardous Waste Grant

HARRISBURG – State Sen. John N. Wozniak has announced that Cambria County will receive a grant for running a household hazardous waste collection event last year.

“Many consumers don’t know how much of what they throw away is considered hazardous,” he said. “It’s important for local government to get involved in educating people and providing safe ways to dispose of these materials.

The grant of $2,616.41 will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs for developing and operating a household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event at the Cambria County Solid Waste Authority during the first six months of 2012.

The grant was awarded by the state Department of Environmental Protection through the Pennsylvania Small Business and Household Pollution Prevention Grant Program of Act 190 of 1996.
