Daisy E. Burns, 96, of Brisbin and formerly of Philipsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at the TLC Manor in Brisbin.
She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Frances (Weste) Arnold born May 30, 1916 in Rush Township. She married Joseph R. Burns Sr. on Oct. 26, 1940 in Osceola Mills. He preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1998.
Mrs. Burns was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Christian Women of Philipsburg.
She was a retired nurse’s aid for the former Philipsburg State General Hospital.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Schnur; two grandchildren, Frederick W. Burns II and Jeffrey A. Schnur; and 16 sisters and brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick W. Burns and his wife, Roberta of Philipsburg, and Joseph R. Burns Jr. and his wife, Audrey of Morrisdale; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, with Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services Monday at the funeral home.
