HALFMOON TOWNSHIP – A 64-year-old Port Matilda man, Barry L. Gummo, has been accused of indecent assault and corruption of minors that occurred sometime between Nov. 1, 2011 and Feb. 24, 2012 in Halfmoon Township, reported the Philipsburg-based state police.

Gummo was charged with three counts of indecent assault and two counts of corruption of minors. He was arraigned through the district court and released on $250,000 unsecured bail. Gummo’s preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Centralized Court on Jan. 23 in Centre County.

State police initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint from the mother of the alleged victim, a 7-year-old girl. Their investigation revealed that Gummo would allegedly have the girl get into a hot tub naked with him. Gummo was also naked. While in the hot tub, the victim would allegedly slide down Gummo’s chest into the water and swim around. State police said at times the victim allegedly came into contact with Gummo’s genital area.

State police said Gummo would allegedly remove the girl’s clothing and scratch her buttocks area, while she was lying down. He would also allegedly rub sex toys over the girl, while she was lying down.
