George Irvin Passmore, 84, of Bells Landing died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at his residence. Born Nov. 4, 1928, he was the son of George Hall and Sarah Viola (Anderson) Passmore.

Mr. Passmore worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at first for Clearfield Equipment for 20 years. Then, he worked the same occupation for the Thomas Coal Company of Grampian for 17 years.

He was a member of the Banner Ridge Community Church and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #51 in Bellefonte. He was a former member of the Mahaffey VFW and the Clearfield Sons of Italy.

On May 24, 1975 in New Millport, he wed the former Margaret Ellen “Peg” Reed, who survives along with two sons, Robert N. Passmore of Luthersburg and Urban E. Passmore of Watsontown.

Surviving are three step-children, Roger C. Witherow and his wife, Mary Beth of Carnwath, Edward L. Witherow and his wife, Tracey of Leola and Cindy Peters and her husband, Jay of Lusby, MD.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, numerous great and great great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, 11 step great-grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers, Helen Barrett of Lewisville, OH, Julia Kritzer of Woodland, Walter “Pinney” Passmore of Curwensville, Betty Miller and her husband, Don of Point Pleasant, NJ, Floyd Passmore and his wife, Bert of Minerva, OH, Edward Passmore and his wife, Bonnie and Ellis Passmore and his wife, Shirley, both of Mahaffey, and Alice Soule of Canton, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents. two sons, Dennis and David Passmore, three sisters, Ida Passmore, Alta Peoples and Ruth Kurtan and a brother, Charles Passmore.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. James Hurd, the Rev. Robert Kinnan and the Rev. Gordon Snyder co-officiating.  Burial will be in the McClure Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
