Obituary Notice: Joseph B. “Inky” McLaughlin

Joseph B. “Inky” McLaughlin, 84, of DuBois died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center as the result of injuries sustained from an automobile accident last week.

Born Jan. 21, 1928 in Hopewell, NJ, he was the son of the late J. Dewey and Ethyl (Hart) McLaughlin.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Austria and Germany during World War II.

On Oct. 14, 1950, he married Kathryn D. Doman.  She preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2013 as a result of the injuries sustained from the same automobile accident.

He was a machinist for Rockwell International Manufacturing in Hopewell, NJ.  He was then transferred to DuBois, where he worked for Rockwell for 35 years until his retirement.  After his retirement, he went to work at Symco in Sykesville.

He enjoyed racing stockcars when he lived in New Jersey and had played softball for many years for the Rockwell Teams.  He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He’s survived by his daughter, Donna Plisco and his son, Joseph McLaughlin Jr. and his wife, Kasey, all of DuBois; two brothers, Robert McLaughlin of Fords, NJ and Thomas McLaughlin of Hopewell, NJ; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon, Dewey, Jack and Patrick McLaughlin and one great-granddaughter, Jayden Plisco.

As per the family’s request, there will be no public visitation or memorial services.
