Shane Patrick Stuckey Jr., 24, 912 DuBois St., DuBois, is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief in two cases.
On Friday, he waived his right to a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court. He remains in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail in each case.
Stuckey allegedly broke into the Choice Tobacco Store in DuBois on both Nov. 15, 2012 and Nov. 27, 2012 by smashing the glass in the front door. Once inside he put cigarettes, snuff and lottery tickets into a pillow case. A surveillance video showed a male who resembled a regular customer of the store who purchases the same brand of cigarettes and snuff. The second burglary was identical with the burglar taking the same items by putting them in a pillow case.
After Stuckey was identified as possibly being the burglar, a search warrant was served on his residence Nov. 28, 2012. There police found cigarettes, snuff, clothing matching the burglar in the video and the pillow case. When Stuckey arrived home, he had a can of snuff and gloves in his pockets. When he was interviewed by police, he admitted to both burglaries.
Damage to the business and the loss of merchandise in the first burglary totaled $711.49 and the second totaled $1,007.39.
