DUBOIS – The Board of Directors of the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of two important awards that are presented annually.
Each year small businesses, community groups, for profit businesses and or not-for-profit organizations are nominated for two, separate awards: the Community Cup and the Small Business of the Year.
The Community Cup recognizes a business, community group or not-for-profit organization, which has shown positive and effective performance in community service. The award highlights the entrepreneurial spirit of organizations that have taken responsibility for the betterment of the area. Since this type of work often goes unnoticed, the chamber founded this prestigious award in 1991. The recipient of the Community Cup for 2012 is the DuBois Business College.
Alternately, the criteria for nominees for the Small Business of the Year, is running a profitable business for at least three consecutive years while demonstrating involvement in professional, business and or trade associations. The nominee should also demonstrate its aid to the community through the use of its personnel or financial resources, including examples of involvement, leadership and achievements in community affairs. After much review and discussion, the recipient chosen for the Small Business of the Year 2012 is Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
Each of these awards, as well as the Jaycees Distinguished Person of the Year, will be presented at the chamber’s annual Business Bash at the DuBois Country Club on Saturday, Jan. 26.
