Kathleen Cowher Shawley, 93, of Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg and formerly of Tyrone, died Saturday, Jan. 12 at Windy Hill Village.

Mrs. Shawley was born Dec. 10, 1919 in Port Matilda, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Parsons) Cowher. She was the last of her immediate family.

On March 24, 1945, she married Charles Shawley of Spruce Creek, and they lived all of their married lives in Tyrone. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; her brothers, Howard and William; and sisters Colorado Cowher Cowfer and Portie Cowher.

She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite (Frederick) Gustkey of Osceola Mills; her granddaughters, Loriann Fink (Matthew) Belinda and Melissa Bryan Fink of State College; her grandson, Charles Fink of Osceola Mills; her great-grandchildren, Bryan and Kristin Fink, Kaila Sarah and Caleb Belinda; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shawley was a wife, mother, grandma, homemaker and a great pie baker all of her life. Although she had not attended church in a very long time, she had a very strong faith and worshiped daily in her spirit.

Friends and family will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Father Stanley J. Swacha of Christ the King Catholic Church conducting the memorial service. Burial will be in Seven Stars Cemetery in Warriors Mark. Friends and family are invited to join the family for a luncheon and time of sharing immediately following the service at Christ the King Social Hall in Houtzdale.
