- A theft incident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 5 and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on Lochlomond Road in Rush Township. Someone removed a blue “Coach” brand purse and an olive green-colored backpack that contained numerous personal items from a 59-year-old Philipsburg woman’s vehicle. The bag also contained the woman’s hearing aids, an iPod, two cameras and $200 in U.S. Currency. The total value of all the stolen items was $6,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Philipsburg-based state police at 814-342-3370.
- A three-vehicle accident occurred at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday on the Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township. Vehicles operated by Shane A. London, 39, of Frenchville; Aaron C. Bates, 35, of West Decatur; and Jeffrey L. Wakefield, 46, of Philipsburg were traveling westbound on the Port Matilda Highway. The Wakefield vehicle was stopped while waiting to make a left-hand turn. The Bates vehicle was also stopped to wait for the Wakefield vehicle to turn left. However, London was unable to stop before rear-ending the Bates vehicle, which subsequently rear-ended the Wakefield vehicle. London and Wakefield were not injured. Bates and his passenger, Amber L. Dixon, 36, of West Decatur were transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of injuries, which weren’t known by state police. All occupants were wearing seatbelts. London will be cited for following too closely.
