WJAC-TV: More Snow Expected Saturday

Severe Weather Team 6 meteorologists have advised residents to prepare for another round of snow showers Friday night into Saturday afternoon.

Meteorologist Josh Fosbrink said in the WJAC-TV news viewing most will see 2 – 4 additional inches of snow starting after midnight Friday and wrapping up around 12 p.m. Saturday.

He said the quick moving storm has prompted the National Weather Service to issue winter weather advisories for all 10 counties in the WJAC-TV News viewing area, which include Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Huntingdon, Elk, Jefferson and Somerset. The advisories begin at 1 a.m. Saturday and last until 7 p.m.

He said a winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. He said you should be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving. Motorists should be especially cautious on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots develop first.

Fosbrink said the storm’s center will pass to the south, closer to the Pennsylvania and Maryland border. He said that means most of the heavier snow will stay south of Interstate 80. For example, forecast models predict an accumulation of 3½ inches in the Johnstown area.
