Master Gardener Classes Set for January

The Penn State Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program in Jefferson County has four classes during the month of January that may be of interest to area gardeners. 

People can attend single classes for $20 each with pre-registration. The classes are three hours long, offered Tuesday afternoon in Brookville and Thursday evening in DuBois.  Pre-registration is necessary to ensure class materials are available.

Jan. 8 and Jan. 10:  Small Fruits

Learn how to successfully grow grapes, brambles, strawberries and blueberries through proper cultivar selection, planting and maintenance.

Jan. 15 and Jan. 17:  Tree Fruits

Learn how to successfully grow tree fruits including apples, pears, peaches and stone fruits through proper cultivar selection, planting and maintenance.

Jan. 22 and Jan. 24:  Native Plants

Learn to appreciate the value of native plants in the landscape and how to select the right plant for the right place.

Jan. 29 and Jan. 31:  Herbaceous Plants

Learn to begin to become proficient in the identification, cultural requirements and usage of herbaceous plants.
