TYRONE – Employees of the Tyrone Area School District (TASD) donated the $708.75 raised via a dress down day they held to support the Tyrone Hospital Foundation’s 12th annual Tree of Light.
Employees of the Tyrone Area School District have been a major supporter of the Tree of Light since its inception. Employee representatives of TASD presented the donation to Tyrone Hospital leaders on behalf of the school district.
Funds raised via the Tree of Light will be donated to Tyrone Hospital to help with the purchase of digital mammography technology for Tyrone Hospital. Early detection of breast cancer dramatically increases the survival rate to near 100 percent. About one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime.
Most people know someone in their circle of friends or in their own family that has or is fighting this disease. With help from school district employees and others who support the Tree of Light and the Tyrone Hospital Foundation, this critical diagnostic tool can be made available in the community.
For a donation of $5 or more, angels can be purchased to place on the Tree of Light. The donation form is available for pick-up at the hospital’s central registration desk, or you can request one by calling the Foundation office at
