“Known Male” Accused of Impersonating State Trooper

RIDGWAY – A known male could face charges for impersonating a public servant after posing as a state trooper on Tuesday when he contacted the Elk County Prison.

According to the Ridgway-based state police, the male contacted a corrections officer at the prison by telephone. He allegedly identified himself as a trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police at Kane.

The CO immediately recognized the call as suspect. The origin of the call was tracked to a Johnsonburg residence. As a result, a known male was apprehended in the alley outside of the residence. He admitted to making the telephone call, state police said.

Charges are currently pending at this time.
