ACS Council Discusses Programs, Services

The American Cancer Society Volunteer Leadership Council members recently met to discuss programs and services they have provided cancer patients in the area.

From Sept 1, 2011 – Aug. 31, 2012, 317 cancer patients received a total of 879 services.  These pati25ents received information, transportation assistance, Road to Recovery where volunteer drivers transported them to and from treatment, free wigs, attended Look Good . . . Feel Better sessions and eight patients stayed free at the Hope Lodge for a total of 223 nights. 

The members also received updates and discussed volunteer needs for area Relay for Life events and Daffodils Days; income events that help fund patient programs and services as well as research.

Volunteer Leadership Council members are community leaders who participate in projects to help further the mission of the American Cancer Society. They help create and maintain a presence in the county so that the society can continue to help people “Stay Well, Get Well, Find Cures and Fight Back.”
