TYRONE – The Tyrone varsity cheerleaders and their booster club, Epworth Manor and the Tyrone Junior High football players jointly made a donation of $2,057.25 to the Tyrone Hospital Foundation. Funds donated will be used to help pay for digital mammography technology for Tyrone Hospital and the Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Institute of Central Pennsylvania (BCWHI).

Donated funds were raised during a Pink Out event held at the Golden Eagles Sept. 28 home football game. The event kicked off breast cancer awareness month.

The cheerleaders and their booster club contributed $1,580.75 raised by selling specially-designed breast cancer awareness T-shirts, pink under eye patches and from pink-themed door prize promotions. Epworth Manor contributed $350 raised via a dress down event and a walking taco sale. The junior high football team contributed $126.50 in personal donations.
