Obituary Notice: James G. Kanouff

James G. Kanouff, 63, of Clearfield died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at his home. He was born Dec. 5, 1948 in West Decatur, the son of Harry Woodrow and Mary Elizabeth (Mellott) Kanouff.

Mr. Kanouff was protestant by faith.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne. He retired as a truck driver.

He was a member of the VFW of Clearfield, AMVETS and the West Decatur Sportsmen’s Club.

Mr. Kanouff is survived by his wife, Sharon L. (Rishel) Kanouff and three sons, Christopher Kanouff, Shawn Kanouff and Adam Kanouff, all of Clearfield.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter; one brother, Harry Kanouff; two sisters, Judy Litz and JoAnn Stiner and her husband, John, all of Morrisdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Billy J. Kanouff; and two brothers, Toby J. and David A. Kanouff.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor James Walk officiating.

Burial will be in the Reidy Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the VFW Post #1785 Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
