Tim Curley, the former athletic director, and Gary Schultz, the former vice president, are now facing charges of endangering the welfare of children, obstruction and conspiracy.
Both men were present at their preliminary arraignments Friday afternoon in Lower Paxton Township, near Harrisburg. They were each released on additional $50,000 unsecured bail. After the hearing, neither made any comments to the media.
A district magistrate presiding over the arraignments for Curley and Schultz set their preliminary hearings for Nov. 12 in Harrisburg.
WJAC-TV reporter Bill Wadell, was in Harrisburg today, said there is a large police and media presence near the court.
Schultz and Curley were charged on Thursday with two counts of endangering the welfare of children, three counts of conspiracy and obstruction.
Schultz and Curley each already faced charges of perjury and failure to report suspected child abuse.
Former University President Graham Spanier is due in court at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 7 in Harrisburg. Spanier is charged with perjury, two counts of endangering the welfare of children, three counts of conspiracy, obstruction and failure to report suspected child abuse.
With the new charges announced by State Attorney General Linda Kelly on Thursday, all three men now face the same five charges.
On Thursday, Kelly said, “This case is about how three powerful men who held positions at the very top of one of the most prestigious universities in the nation … used their positions to conceal and cover up the known child predator.”
