GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP – A 38-year-old Altoona man has been accused of aggravated assault after an altercation that occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday at the Chest Falls Campground in Greenwood Township, according to the Clearfield-based state police.
The suspect allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with a 36-year-old Northern Cambria man. It then escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly struck the man in the mouth and nose area. He also allegedly struck the man with a canopy pipe in his body area.
The suspect turned his dog on the man before fleeing the campgrounds. He was hiding in a wooded area.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
