No. 1 women’s volleyball set to take on No. 4 Nebraska

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The No. 1 Penn State women’s volleyball team (21-1, 11-0 Big Ten) visits No. 4 Nebraska on Sunday, Oct. 28 for a 2 p.m. match with the Huskers (17-2, 9-1 Big Ten). The match will air live on the Big Ten Network.

Nittany Lion Preview
The Penn State women’s volleyball team improved to 21-1 and 11-0 in the Big Ten with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-15) sweep of Iowa on Oct. 24. Junior Deja McClendon (Louisville, Ky.) led the Nittany Lions with 3.67 kills per set, while junior Katie Slay (Raleigh, N.C.) posted 2.67 kills per set on a team-best .800 hitting. Sophomore Micha Hancock (Edmond, Okla.) dished out 11.33 assists per set and was third on the team with 2.67 digs per set. McClendon led the Lions in digs averaging 4.00 digs per set and sophomore Dominique Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) posted 3.33 digs per set. Slay and McClendon were strong at the net for Penn State with 1.33 blocks per set apiece.

For the match, the Nittany Lions hit .367 and averaged 13.67 kills, 12.33 assists, 2.00 aces, 13.33 digs and 3.17 blocks per set.

Penn State vs. Nebraska
The Nittany Lions opened the Big Ten season against Nebraska and earned a 3-1 (23-25, 28-26, 25-17, 26-24) win. Penn State is 8-12 all-time against the Huskers.
