DUBOIS – A 39-year-old man, Karl Porter, of Treasure Lake in DuBois is facing charges for molesting a 10-year-old girl, according to Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.

On Oct. 18, Sgt. Rodney Fairman of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Porter with 12 counts each of aggravated indecent assault of a child and indecent assault.

The criminal complaint provides that in September, the Sandy Township police initiated an investigation into a girl allegedly being sexually assaulted. Upon investigation it was discovered that for more than a year, Porter had routinely sexually molested a 10-year-old girl.

The girl was interviewed as part of the investigation and reported that Porter had inappropriately touched her. She also stated that Porter had held her hand and caused her to inappropriately touch his private area. All of the incidents allegedly occurred at a residence in Sandy Township.

On Tuesday, Porter was apprehended and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Richard A. Ireland. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday. Ireland set Porter’s bail at $100,000. Porter is currently incarcerated in the Clearfield County Jail.

Shaw stated that he was pleased with the investigative efforts made by the Sandy Township police in this matter. He also noted that complaints of this nature are extremely troubling and every effort must be made to identify, investigate and prosecute those who victimize children.
