Elk County Railroad Crossing Work Scheduled

ST. MARYS – Two different railroad crossings in Elk County will see replacement work this month. The work at both sites will require road closures and detours.

Details on each of the works sites is as follows:

• Route 1005, Theresia Street, in St. Marys will be closed Oct. 17-18. The Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad will remove and replace the railroad crossing between Speer and Rettger streets. All work is weather dependent. An official detour using Route 120 and Route 1005 will be in place.

• Route 948, Montmorenci Road, in Ridgway will be closed Oct. 20-22. The Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad will remove and replace the railroad crossing between West Main and Ash streets, in the West End. A lengthy official detour will be in place, using Routes 219, 321, 66 and 948. Local drivers may choose to use alternate routes. All work is weather dependent.

Message boards will be in place to alert drivers to the railroad crossing work, road closures and detours. PennDOT reminds drivers to follow detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
