Robert Glenn DuFour, 75, of Curwensville died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at his residence. Born Dec. 2, 1936 in Grampian, he was the son of Alex and Ruth (Fredricks) DuFour. 

Mr. DuFour was first self-employed and owned his own backhoe service. He then worked for various coal mining companies as a heavy equipment operator and retired from Benjamin Coal Company.  He was also an avid camper, hunter, woodworker and enjoyed boating and fishing.

He was a member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. and the Curwensville American Legion Post 505. He was a former member of the Curwensville VFW and Curwensville L.O.O.M. #268.

On Oct. 13, 1956 in Curwensville, he wed the former Eva Mae Neeper, who survives along with four children, Linda S. Best and her husband, Tom of Grampian; William J. DuFour and his , Darlene and Kathy L. Bloom and her husband, Michael, all of Curwensville; and Robert G. DuFour Jr. and his companion, Marjann of Glen Richey.

Surviving are 10 grandchildren, Branden Best and his wife Lindsey; Tyler Best and his companion, Heidi Ogden; Jerek Best; Jason DuFour and his wife, Nicki; Jessica DuFour and her companion, Tom Crain; Bille Jean DuFour; Eric Bloom and his wife, Andrea; Corey Bloom and his wife, Kristin; Bryan DuFour; and Kodie DuFour; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Cory Clark; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Gerald DuFour and his wife, Libby of Beech Creek and Ardell DuFour and his wife, Donna; four sisters, Ruth Haley and her husband, John of North Tonawanda, NY; Deloris Miller and her husband, Carl of Muncy; Doris Solley and her companion, Bob McCartney; Hazel Weber and her companion, Milford Bloom; and a sister-in-law, Ann DuFour of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Kristi Ann Best; his twin brother, Billy DuFour; and four other brothers, Louis, Arthur, George and Ernie DuFour.

Funeral services for Robert DuFour will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. in Curwensville, with the Rev. Daniel Osterhout officiating.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, The Shriner’s Hospitals for Burn Victims or the charity of the donor’s choice.
