Russell W. Olenick, 88, of Philipsburg died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at the Allegheny Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg.

He was the son of the late John and Mary (Hurnock) Olenick born June 16, 1924 in Osceola Mills. He married Margaret (Comitz) Olenick on June 16, 1951 in Clairton.

Mr. Olenick was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills. He was a member of the following organizations the B.P.O.Elks #1173 in Philipsburg; the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Club in Frenchville; the White Tail Rod & Gun Camp in Shawville; and a life member of the Columbia Fire Company in Osceola Mills.

He was partner in the ownership of Olenick’s Printing & Photography in Philipsburg with his son, James Olenick.

Mr. Olenick was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Sebastian and Evelyn Rude and four brothers, Pete and Paul Olenick and John and Michael Kushner.

Along with his wife, Mr. Olenick is survived by a daughter, Anne Yurkovich and her husband, Allen of Altoona; a son, James R. Olenick of Philipsburg; and two grandchildren, Gregg Yurkovich and Kara Yurkovich.

A burial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, with Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will be at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Cemetery in Osceola Mills.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills. Panikhida will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
