UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team has had its road dual meets at Iowa and Illinois switched, allowing for live Big Ten Network coverage of the Nittany Lions’ dual at Iowa.
Penn State will now visit Iowa City to battle the Hawkeyes on Friday, Feb. 1, at 9 p.m. (Eastern)/8 p.m. (Central/Local) on Mediacom Mat at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The dual was originally scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 3, but was rescheduled to accommodate a BTN request to televise the dual.
The Penn State/Illinois dual (originally scheduled for Friday) has now been set for Sunday, Feb. 3, at a time to be determined.
Penn State and Iowa have combined to win the last five NCAA and Big Ten titles with the Nittany Lions winning the last two straight and Hawkeyes winning the three prior to that. The teams return a combined 11 All-Americans and have 13 wrestlers rated in the top eight of WIN Magazine’s preseason rankings.
Penn State will begin the new season on Nov. 1 when it hosts its Intrasquad Scrimmage at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall. Ticket information for the 2012-13 season is forthcoming very soon. The season ticket package will include seven home duals (the Intrasquad is a free event and the package does not include the Nittany Lion Open).
