State Police Announce Crime Prevention Initiative

PHILIPSBURG – With school currently in full swing, the Philipsburg-based state police has announced a crime prevention initiative. Motorists are reminded to be aware of school buses and students who are walking to and from school.

Motorists are encouraged to leave for work earlier if they’re driving along routes, where school buses are stopping to pick up or drop off students. In addition, motorists are reminded they’re not permitted to pass school buses while their red lights are flashing.

State police are reminding motorists that aggressive driving will not be tolerated on Pennsylvania roadways and distracted motorists are more likely to be involved with an accident. New texting laws are in effect and being enforced. Motorists are encouraged not to use their cellular phones while driving.

State police want to remind residents to lock their vehicles and residences at all times. It will prevent them from becoming a victim of theft.
