Byron P. Thomas, 68 of Grampian died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Clearfield Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1944 in Grafton, a son of the late Ansel Byron and Jo Clair (Hicks) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was employed at the former Clearfield Cheese. He then began driving truck with his uncle, hauling clay and coal until becoming an independent owner/operator.
His avocation was with aircraft and he obtained first his rotary wing pilot’s license and later his fixed wing pilot’s license. He enjoyed flying helicopters and airplanes.
He was a follower of Shepherd’s Chapel, Gravette, Ark.
He is survived by his brother, David Thomas with whom he resided.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, with the Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Burial will follow in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
