Bigar: Clearfield County to Upgrade Telephone Services

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners and its Department of Emergency Services will be upgrading their telephone services. On Oct. 1, seven-digit lines, non-emergency lines, known as Foreign Exchange Lines will be eliminated.

The lines include: 371-2323; 371-3535; 375-0100, all of which service DuBois and Sandy Township. In addition, it includes 672-5118 serving Coalport; 236-0111 serving Curwensville and Mahaffey; and 342-6831 serving Philipsburg.

Voice recordings will be placed on these affected lines to direct callers to use the 1-800-689-3535 telephone number. Callers may also use 814-765-1533 to reach the dispatch center. These recordings will be active for a six-month period.

“This change only involves ‘non-emergency’ calls to the 911 Center. Emergency callers will continue to dial ‘911’ to reach the dispatch center,” stated EMA director Joseph Bigar Jr. in a press release.
