The Headwaters Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council has welcomed the EQT Corp. to the Headwaters Conservation Partnership (HCP) program.

“We have been in discussion with EQT for months and are excited that they have chosen to partner with us,” said RC&D Executive Director Dale Fox. “I wish to acknowledge the role that EQT’s Nathaniel Manchin played in bringing this partnership to fruition. As fellow outdoor enthusiasts, we hit it off immediately, and right from the start Nathaniel wanted to see EQT be a part of this innovative approach to conservation funding.”

“EQT has been in the natural gas business for more than 120 years and has dedicated itself to good corporate citizenship,” said Manchin. “At EQT that means respecting the environment and supporting the communities in which we live and operate. EQT uses the safest, most reliable methods for producing, transporting and delivering the clean energy of natural gas, because we share Headwaters’ philosophy of protecting and enhancing natural and cultural resources in north central Pennsylvania.”

When a company becomes a part of the Headwaters Conservation Partnership, it designates which county or counties it wishes to put its funding to work, either to a general conservation fund that will leverage multiple donations to work on projects chosen by the conservation district, or by donating to a specific project.

EQT’s $2,500 HCP donation will be shared between Elk and Cameron counties and decisions on how that funding will be allocated will be announced later in 2012. Each conservation district has a project “wish list” which is available on the Headwaters web site. Elk County Conservation Director Steve Putt shared his perspective on the importance of conservation partners.

“Good conservation ideas sometimes never make it beyond the planning stages because of a lack of funding,” he said.?”Contributions, such as that of EQTs, help to take those ideas and turn them into on-the-ground conservation projects.”

The EQT Corp. is an integrated energy company with emphasis on Appalachian area natural gas production, gathering, transmission and distribution. EQT is the general partner and majority equity owner of EQT Midstream Partners LP. With more than 120 years of experience, EQT continues to be a leader in the use of advanced horizontal drilling technology – designed to minimize the potential impact of drilling-related activities and reduce the overall environmental footprint. Through safe and responsible operations, the company is committed to meeting the country’s growing demand for clean-burning energy, while continuing to provide a rewarding workplace and enrich the communities where its employees live and work. Company shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange as EQT. Visit EQT Corporation at www.EQT.com
