Penn State DuBois Searches for New Chancellor

By Rebekkah Coakley, Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK Penn State is seeking candidates for the chancellor position at Penn State DuBois. Anita McDonald, the current chancellor, announced that she would retire at the end of the year, after almost 10 years at the campus. Though she loves her career, McDonald said she is looking forward to pursuing other interests with her husband of 42 years and to spending more time with their children and grandchildren.

The chancellor serves as the chief executive and academic leader of the campus and is responsible for the quality of academic programs in teaching, research, and service; strategic planning; budgeting; philanthropy; faculty and staff development, recruitment and evaluation; outreach; and alumni relations.
In addition to providing academic and administrative leadership to the DuBois campus, the chancellor is a key executive of the University and serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Council and Council of Campus Chancellors. The successful candidate will be an experienced, entrepreneurial leader, with an accomplished scholarly record and a demonstrated commitment to community engagement and fundraising. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Penn State DuBois is located in the north central Pennsylvania city of DuBois and has a long-standing history of academic excellence and regional leadership in higher education that includes strong business and industry partnerships.

Current enrollment is approximately 750, 33 percent of which are adult students. There are 45 full-time faculty and approximately 30 part-time faculty. Six baccalaureate and nine associate degrees are offered at the campus. Students may also complete the first two years of nearly all of Penn State’s 160+ baccalaureate degrees at the DuBois campus and transition to another Penn State campus to complete their studies.
