UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State graduate student tailback Michael Zordich (Youngstown, Oh.) was voted the Iron Workers Local Union No. 3 "Ironman of the Game" for his week three performance against the Navy Midshipmen. Zordich received the most fan votes of the four nominees this week.
For the first time since he was at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Zordich started a game at tailback. With two injuries in the backfield, Zordich stepped up with a gritty performance for the Nittany Lion offense. Even though Zordich was out of his comfort zone, he managed to post a career-high 11 carries for 50 yards in the Penn State win over Navy this past Saturday.
Zordich joins both senior linebacker Michael Mauti (Mandeville, La.) and sophomore wide receiver Allen Robinson (Southfield, Mich.) as this year’s "Ironman of the Game."
