Lawrence Township police reported that Pauline Dilley of Johnsonburg was killed in the collision. She was an occupant of the passenger car operated by Cappyanna Levenduski of Kersey. Dilley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two children passengers – a 2 –year-old and an 18-month old – were flown to a Pittsburgh-based medical facility. The severity of the children’s injuries isn’t known at this time. Levenduski was flown to the Altoona Trauma Center for medical treatment.
Levenduski was traveling eastbound on SR 879 when she attempted a left-hand turn onto Airport Road. However, she failed to observe a tri-axle coal truck operated by Stephen Clark of Frenchville that was traveling westbound on SR 879 and turned in front of it.
Clark wasn’t able to swerve to avoid striking the passenger side of the Levenduski vehicle. His coal truck then pushed the passenger car sideways and into a ditch along the west berm, where it overturned onto the car.
Clark was transported to the Clearfield Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
